How to Identify A Fable

We've learnt about folktale. And now we're going to look into fable.
There are a lot of fables. The most famous ones are Aesop's Fables. The Fox and the Crow, The Jay and the Peacock, and Androcles are among the fables from Aesop's.

We read a fable but how do we identify whether it is a fable or not. Below are some tips to identify the structure of a fable:

a) Aesop wrote it

b) It teaches us moral

c) The moral is at the end, but it doesn't have to have one

d) Mostly the characters are animals acting like humans talking

e) A fable has an orientation, a complication, a resolution and a message
*an orientation that is concise, introducing the character and situation very briefly
*a  complication that is silly, foolish or naughty
*a resolution which may include a moral

f) It is shorter than a narrative
